Companion
Care, launched in 1997 in Lafayette, California, by
Barbara Schuh and expanded to Albuquerque, New Mexico, in
2004, is dedicated to creating better options for elders,
namely professional geriatric care management and high quality
in-home care. |
Companion Care's Professional
Geriatric Care Managers have advanced training, education and
experience in gerontology, social work, nursing and/or counseling.
They will provide objective evaluations, detailed care plans,
supervision of in-home care services, and on-going management
of care.

The caregivers at Companion Care
are well-trained, compassionate individuals who are carefully
matched for compatibility with clients and often these relationships
last for years. The Geriatric Care Managers work with the
companions to expand the levels of compassion they bring to their
clients and, in turn, care giving becomes a process that enriches
their own lives.

Companion Care's holistic approach
to care giving is another aspect that makes the company unique
in its field. Every employee at Companion
Care is committed to caring for the “whole person,”
addressing the emotional, spiritual, social and psychological
needs of all clients, as well as their physical needs, and extending
this care to the families and communities that surround them.
As a socially responsible company, Companion
Care's focus includes a respect and reverence for all areas
of life at the individual, societal and global levels. As an organization,
Companion Care offers opportunities
for its colleagues to grow and expand, as well as to share in
the benefits of the company.
Companion Care also acknowledges
the value of its employees by rewarding them with a higher rate
of pay and benefits within a system that often minimizes the qualities
of compassion and long-term care giving. |
